Pokémon Underground,
like every Pokémaniac on planet, is hoping that
Pokémon Gold/Silver will be released soon. We've
made a mini-FAQ for those interested in the game. If
you know something that we don't know please contribute your News.
Q:When will
it be released?
A:It has been rumored
that the game will be released on Sept 5th, 1999 in
Japan. There's no exact date yet on the American or
European release, although it is expected to ship in
the first quarter of 2000.( March 2000)
Pokémon Gold and
Silver will be a sequel to the previous red, blue and
yellow (Special Pikachu edtion) editions. What's even
better is that these new versions will be a Gameboy
Color game not regular GB. Judging from the screen
shots, I can tell that these will top the charts in
Japan as soon as they come out.
Q:Do you have
any screen shots?
A:Yes you can view
them here.
Q:Is it
"Da Bomb"
A:Of course!
Q:Should I
buy it?
Yes!!! It's going to
ROCK!
Q: Can't you
give it to me for free?
Maybe....
Q:Are there
any new trainers?
A:Of course there is!
Rumors also indicate that either Ash will not be in
the line-up, maybe you can play as a girl (Misty), or
Ash will be much older. Gary also might be older and
you might get some newcomers too.
Q:Are there
any new Pokémon in Gold and Silver?
Yes! Below are just
some of the new Pokémon in Gold and Silver. Note
also the addition of a new type of "Night"
Pokémon.
Q:What are
the new features of the game?
Some of the new game
features are:
- There will be
over 250 Pokémon with new moves and attacks,
and they can learn some of the 200 tricks
included in the game. Pokémon can also
crossbreed making new kinds of Pokémon.
- New Cities and
Gyms to compete in!
- You might be
able to choose between a girl(Misty) or a
boy(Ash)!
- Some Pokémon
from the previous games can evolve to a
higher status even if they have reached their
peak in the red, blue, or yellow versions.
- A day and night
feature since Pokémon can now sleep. Also,
some Pokémon will only battle at certain
times of the day depending on their type.
- A real time
clock. In the game, there will be a number
goals that occur in real time, and these must
be completed within the allotted period.
There will also be special events that will
happen at specific dates or time. The time
also affects the Pokemon.
- All Pokémon
will have a gender attribute, either male or
female. Pokémon growth, abilities and
attacks will depend on gender.
- An improved
battle screen, full Gameboy color support,
and over all better graphics.
- A skateboard
will be your new form of transportation
replacing the old bike from previous
versions.
Of course some of
these features might be drawbacks, like crossbreeding
might make it be impossible to have the strongest
Pokémon since newborn Pokémon are rumored to be
stronger than the parents.
Q:Can I
transfer Pokémon from the other games to the new
ones?
A:Yes, you can. But
one thing to note however, is that monsters from the
original red, blue and yellow editions can be
transferred to the gold and silver carts but not
backwards because the new Pokémon could mess up the
previous versions.
Q: Is
Pokémon Gold/Silver being shown at Space World 99'?
Yes, there's news about other Pokémon titles for the
64DD too.
Q:Will there
be a Special Pokémon Gold/Silver Color GameBoy like
there was for Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu
Edition?
A:Yes, it is rumored
that Pokémon Center Japan will be releasing a
Special Edition Silver Color GameBoy to mark the
release of the new Pokémon Gold and Silver games.
Details of Pokémon Gold and Silver, however, are
still shrouded in mystery only Space World 99' might
tell.
